Am looking for some info on a Frank James born in Cardiff in 1917. Brother to Edward Thomas James 1912, Margaret James and Florence James. My grandfather lost contact with his brother Frank after WWII and we have no more details about him. Have vague information that he married a Beryl Jenkins in Pontypridd in 1955 but not confirmed. Any help appreciated. Did post this back in April but got nowhere. Thanks

Hi,

To get any further with this your best bet is probably to order this Marriage Cert:

Name:    Frank James
Spouse Surname:    Jenkins
Date of Registration:    Oct-Nov-Dec 1955
Registration district:    Pontypridd
Inferred County:    Glamorganshire
Volume Number:    8b
Page Number:    965

That will give you Occupations and Addresses, and both Father's names.

You can then check for any children's Births for this couple.

Because of the timescale, and the very common names, the best route then is probably to check Electoral Rolls.

The difficulty is that the names are both quite common, - and so it might be hard to pin down which one is yours, - unless you definately know that he married a Jenkins.

Do you know his exact date of birth?

Deaths after 1969 show an exact date of birth as long as the informant knew it of course

Or maybe write to the local paper and see if they'd run a piece about him asking if anyone knows what happened to him.
