Hi Wayne62

I don't know whether you are still out there, but I have some Belfast, Antrim McMillans that I haven't been able to trace.

Robert McMillan b1818 Belfast.   He married Jane/Janet Hamilton b1819 Belfast about1838 in Belfast.   They had a daughter Martha b1839 Belfast.   By 1841 the family were in Partick, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

I'm wondering if your Margaret McMillan could be related to my Robert?

Hello Wayne

This is Jenni again. ... Since last I connected with you we have found all the birth records for my Moses Douglas born circa 1740. His eldest son was James Douglas baptized 1769 at Shankill Parish Church, Lurgan Armagh. James married Mary Bradshaw December 1792 and appears to have lived in Drumnakelly, Seagoe a townland next door to Moses Douglas (who was in Kinnego).

Antrim and Armagh are seperated by Lough Neigh and I have seen my family travel and marry as far away as Londonderry and Wexford. So travel is not out of the question ...

You will see that the marriage date of my Mary and James are within the ball park of them possibly being the parents of your James. It would explain why your James has a son named Moses (using Irish Scot naming patterns).

We may never find the paper documentation that we need to prove a connection (if this is in deed a correct assumption that I am making), but it is worth a try if there is ever the opportunity to do so. Another option would be DNA test to see if there is a match with my Dad. Best option for that would be a surviving male Douglas from your line, but familyfinder may be successful.

To date, all the other Moses Douglas's that I have found in Ireland are related to my family (except for one I haven't been able to verify so far), so ... who knows.

Jenni

Evening All

I am jumping in as I can see people asking about the James and Isabella Douglass. My 4 x great grandparents. ( probably lots of others lol 😂 )

I have found they had a son Clark Douglas who married Nancy Wallace ( if I’ve got it correct )  in 1858 Craig’s Ballymena.
I just cannot find his death  can anyone advise please 🙏

Oh brilliant !

With the information I have the family moved to Scotland !

But can not find Clark Douglas death.?

Looks like James Douglas and Isabella Clark had a couple more children

Jame Douglas who married Mary Jane Worthington in Ballymena 1845

Ellen Douglas married William Kelly  in 1853 Ballymena
On this wedding certificate it states Walker Douglass as a witness just can not work out how they are connected ?

Ok interesting, so could possibly be the same father only problem is the father jobs are different. On the marriage certificate? I’ll do some more digging

Occupations can change but since it is the bride and groom that give the details of their father there can be some variations listed for occupation.

I found this post today and am curious about your McKee.

The McKee you have listed I have found this option:  Francis McKee b 1828 M Margaret Mullen 15 May 1868 Benburg, Tyrone.

Francis' father is listed as Thomas.

I have McKee's on both sides of my family from around this area so, if you need any other suggestions let me know.
