Date and improve (if possible)
« on: Saturday 23 October 10 12:37 BST (UK) »
Hi

Could anyone give me any idea of the date of this photo and how old do you think they are.

Also if the black dots could be removed that would be wonderful.  Especially on the eyes and face.

Does anyone think that the bloke only has one leg.  I wondered, because he is sitting instead of her and also his leg looks odd.

Mo

As you can see from Alan's restore he has 2 good legs, one on each side.
The lady's dress style consisting of a pleated underskirt & ruched overskirt is associated
with the mid - late 1880's.
You may get more results if you rescan this at 300dpi in colour & leave out the scanner bed,
not many people are as brave as Alan when it comes to these poor quality photos.

Well spotted Bill, the original must have been a tintype.
The man seated doesn't have any significance other than balance.

Thanks everyone. :)

I'm so grateful.

I don't have any fancy equipment to "change to 300dlp in colour and leave out the scanner bed" whatever that means ;D  I'm a bit of a numbskull when it comes to things like that :-[ The original was 2.97 MB and I just made a smaller photocopy and scanned it.  It's the best I could do.

Thanks for all the info - but I still think the leg nearer the camera looks odd :-\
