I just found this but I'm a little confused. John W Caldicott m Ellen Melinda & they had children: Nellie, Ivy, Terence, Rex & William Harry (known as Billy). He married Margaret & died in 1933 from I think polio. Margaret took the children to London & the rest of the family didn't hear from her again. I don't know the names of the children but am assuming you are descended from one of them, ?Ann. It looks like you are in Canada. I am in Australia. Nellie, Terence & Rex stayed in U.K. & are deceased. Ivy came to Australia. I don't know why your post didn't show up on my email.

I believe that Margaret was John Harry Caldicott's wife, born Margaret Josephine Maguire.  After her husband died, she moved with I believe two daughters, Kathleen and Mary to Thyra Street in the Findlay area in London.  She died in 1982.  I think Mary married Michael Drew but not totally confirmed and she died at age 66 in 1996.  I can't find any other information.  Ps.  All my information is from Ancestry English civil registrations.

I read there is much to do about Margaret Caldicott. She is the younger sister of my grandmother Catherine Ann Lloyd, born as McGirr. Margaret and her two sisters and one brother grew up in co. Tyrone, Northern-Ireland. My granny died in 1995 (Dorset England). I own the old family farm where Margaret and her family grew up. I live in the Netherlands. My name is Llewelyn.

Hi,
I'm late to this chat, but can offer some information.
John Harry Caldicott was my grandfather, although I never met him because he died from Polio when he was 33.  My grandmother was Margaret McGirr, although confusingly she was married under the name of McGuire.  I would be grateful if anyone could tell me why she would do that?
They had three children - Margaret, Kathleen (my mother) and Patricia always called Paddy.  Margaret had no children, Kathleen married Terry Lynch and had 5, of which I am the oldest, and Paddy married Michael Drew and had one daughter Bernadette.
My family emigrated to Australia in 1963 and while we were there, Great Aunty Ivy visited us.  She was lovely but she was the only one of the Caldicotts we ever met.  The story my mother told is that the Caldicotts were Jewish and they were annoyed that John Harry married a catholic so they cut him off.  I would love to know more about that if it's true.  LlewelynBatenb, I would love to know more about the McGirrs

Hello Lynchington, your grandmother Margaret is the sister of Kathleen Ann MgGirr, mt grandmother. The two grew up in Co. Tyrone, Tattymoyle Upper. I am still the owner of the old family farm. Our great grandfather is Patrick McGirr and as far as I know he married Mary Jane (Woods) from Eskra. It's a bit difficult to find out more about the McGirr's, our relatives. I grew up in The Netherlands. Kathleen Ann married a Welshman (Llewelyn Lloyd), they're child is my father. My name is Llewelyn Joël Batenburg and I live in Gouda. If you google it's easy to contact me (if you want).

friendly regards, Llewelyn.
