Lily Hamlet and Samuel Bagley c.1890
« on: Tuesday 26 October 10 17:48 BST (UK) »
Am posting for parts of my tree that I am stuck on. Here is the first.

I am trying to find the marriage of this couple or anyone who has them in their tree. They had four children: Samuel Bagley, Molly Bagley, Ivy Bagley b. 1922 and Violet who died young. All the children were born in Kings Norton Staffordshire. On Ivy's birth certificate and marriage cert. Samuel Bagley is noted as a lcoal merchant. I suspect Hamlet may be a altered spelling of Hamblet which is common in the area.  Three of the children were in West Bromwich Orphanage and were later splt up. Can I get records from orphanages?

I wonder if Lily had been previously married - and Hamlet shows up as her actual maiden name on Ivy's Birth Index entry ?

Marriages Dec 1913

Bagley  Samuel  to Cook  Kings N.  6d 255
Betts  Marion B  Partridge  Kings N.  6d 255
Cook  Lily  to Bagley  Kings N.  6d 255
Partridge  Lewis  Betts  Kings N.  6d 255

I havent checked birth years for the older kids - are they after 1913?

Ah, I think that may indeed be a different couple - there is an Annie born 1914 MMN = Cook.

You are prob' correct that your Lily's name was HAMBLET

Births Mar 1916

Bagley  Samuel  Hamblet  Kings N.  6d 178

:D Thank you for that super quick reply! I think that confirms the Hamblet theory. The other children were Molly 1919 and Violet 1921. No marriage though! I thought it would be about 1915 or so given the birthdate of Samuel but no luck. Still, thanks again, that's great.

:)Thanks I'll go look at that. Out of interest when do we get to see the 1911 census. I see its on some pay sites but I can't afford the payments to get to it. If its not arriving though I might have to bite the bullet and save up!

Hi
As Mort29 says 1911 census requests are not allowed and you have to pay to look at the image.  Might be worth buying some credits.  Don't waste them on the transcripts though.  The image is much better value.

Hi Hammy - Welcome to Rootschat   :)

We will try and help you but we need if possible a bit more information.  We could really do with some dates - even if they are only approximate and some places.  Don't put any details of anyone who is living on though.

It will probably be best to start your own thread in the correct county board but first we need to work out where that is
