Hi John,

What is the lineage of your Mary.  I only have two  Mary's in my tree, one is the daughter of William & Grace Wards b1847 Everby, the other is daughter of Hugh & Margaret Wards b1800 Cuinsborough.

Hi John,

Yes there is a connection.  you are the very first I have found on this lineage  :) ... I do have an 'issue' in the tree that no one can help me.  The History centre at Bressay don't know either, I think it might be one of those mysteries! It is Hugh Wards m Barbara Smith and Hugh Wards m Margaret Leisk.  I have  these as two different Hugh Wards (father & son), but they could be the same Hugh and he had two wives, I can't remember where I got the information (birth date) for the second Hugh from  ???  ,,, this is what my  lineage is:
Hugh Wards 1747-?  m Barbara Smith 1746-?
Hugh Wards 1775-1837 m Margaret Leisk 1780-?
Hugh Wards 1803-1862 m Elizabeth Fearneau 1806-1853
Hugh Ward 1838-1901 m Mary Ann Maycock 1838-1879
Nora Ward 1876-? m Sidney Swift 1871-1934 (GGrandparents).
The Hugh Ward name featured throughout the generations with my grandfather and son both having Hugh Ward as middle names!

Hello Sharon

I do not think I will be able to solve the mystery regarding Hugh being one or separate people, my relatives and sources from Shetland are stuck on this also.
I do also use Tony Gotts wonderful Shetland research site at www.bayanne.info/shetland and he is also unsure about one or two Hughs.

I do notice however, that no further details exists on for your Hugh b 1803 and I'm sure if you have this information Tony would like to update the records. I do not have anything either concerning him.

look forward to hearing from you.

Regards
John
