he married Martha in Pontypool 1861, i have found a death for Martha 1873 he may have married again after that date, can anyone find him on any census,thank you,

This could be the Henry from 1901 census, so possible not your Henry CARTWRIGHT as he is with his wife Elizabeth in 1871

Could it be that Henry has also died both these dates seem to tie in with the 1871 census found by Isobelruss

can't find Herbert bn 1862 or Laura CARTWRIGHT bn 1868 in 1881

It appears that Henry CARTWRIGHT married Martha GAUNLETT Mar q 1861 Pontypool they should be together on 1861 census as that census was taken on 7th April

**ADDED**
It does appear that the 1881 census with Ada as niece is the daughter of your Henry & Martha CARTWRIGHT.

Martha's sister Sarah Ann GAUNTLETT married Thomas EVANS - see link below

Hello all!

Has anyone been able to establish Henry Cartwright's parents? I have a Henry Alexander Cartwright b.1836 in Kington, Herefordshire; parents: Alexander Cartwright and Elizabeth née Pugh. I am a descendants of Alexander Cartwright's sister. I'd like to know if the Henry in this thread is the same person

I've found that there's an Alexander Cartwright who died in 1853 in Pontypool, and an Elizabeth Esther Cartwright who died in Pontypool as well in 1847. Could they be by any chance Henry's parents and the parents of the Henry Alexander Cartwright I have on my tree?
