« on: Sunday 07 November 10 09:33 GMT (UK) »
G'day Chatters,

I am hoping to gather information on the above family.
The names I have are as follows;
Robert BECKETT born c.1826 to Matthew BECKETT and Mary nee PORTER.

Robert married Elizabeth HARWOOD 1 Oct 1852 at Lower Seagoe Parish of Seagoe Armagh, Ireland and they immigrated to Australia aboard the vessel "Bloomer" departing Liverpool 29 Mar 1853

Many thanks

Hi,

I came across your request of Robert Beckett, c 1826.
His wife Elizabeth was a sister to Margaret Ann Harwood, my Great Grandmother. I have Info on Robert and Elizabeth when they lived in Australia.

Looking forward to your response.

John.
Australia.

Mary (Porter) Beckett is buried with her parents Thomas and Clarissa Porter in Seagoe.  Did you see any Porters move to Australia to join Robert?

Hello
I have been researching the Beckett family of Ballinderry which is an area north of Moira. I believe the families are very closely related (Beckett is not a common surname). Robert's father was Mathew and mother Mary Porter

I suspect that Mary died and Mathew remarried. Mathew is a very unusual name in NI and is distinctive in the Beckett family
