Hi Ian

There is a William John Roberts, carter, at No 57 in the 1911 directory.

Added...The top end of Sutton Street is not far from Stoneycroft Post Office, even though Stoneycroft is usually considered to be further south.

But searching the 1911 census index doesn't bring up ANY Roberts in West Derby.

Hmmmmm

Strange!

On FindMyPast, if you enter "West Derby" as place of residence, you get zero results for Roberts and variations.

If you enter "Liverpool" you get 7334 results INCLUDING lots in West Derby!
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

When were they both born?

The website that I just typed has quite a few Cecilia Roberts in West Derby.

thanks for all the posts!  ;D

Cecilia birth:

John was aged 32 on his wedding day but I don't know where he was born - hoped the 1911 would tell as I thought it would be really easy to find Cecilia - doh!

As the address for both was clearly given on the marriage cert (and as they where not at Newcombe Street, Walton) I suspected they must be at John's address of 76 Sutton Street, West Derby due to less than 2 months between time of marriage and time of census!

Could they have emmigrated in such a short space of time?

best wishes,
Ian.

Here are some of their neighbours. You should be able to find one of the uncommon names in the 1911 census.
