Moss Edge-Tool Makers Conford/Bramshott, Hampshire
« on: Tuesday 16 November 10 14:43 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I have hit a barrier in my research into the Moss family of Conford, Hampshire, who were well known edge-tool makers.  The founder of the forge was a William Moss born c.1768 (detail from the Ludshott Rolls) who died in March qtr 1841, but I can't find any trace of his early years.  He moved to the Conford and married an Ann Chandler from Bramshott (c1775-1853) on 26 Aug 1796.  Some accounts say that  he was from Newbury, others from Farringdon, but I can't find anything to confirm either.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Hugo

A bit late in the day but William Moss  born 1822 was my great great grandfather. I would be interested to know if you have any further info, thanks
