Who was Pte S Burdett, R M L I ?
« on: Wednesday 17 November 10 23:43 GMT (UK) »
I have a medal awarded to the above named individual for his part in the later Egyptian campaign (1884-9). It was discovered amongst my late mother's effects.

I have no idea who this individual was and I have yet to come across the name Burdett in my tree.

I would welcome any help in my attempt to identify "S Burdett" who I guess was born around 1850-65.

Thanks Neil. Almost certain that's my man. He was awarded Egypt Medal in 1886. He was also married in E Stonehouse (Plymouth), which takes him to my part of the world. (Cross checked service record and BMD)

Record shows him born Leicester 29 Jan 1847, but have yet to confirm this from BMD. More digging to be done!
