Morgan Conwill - Llywel, Breconshire
« on: Friday 19 November 10 12:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Morgan Conwill (variations, Conwil, Counwill, Counwell) was born about 1782 in Lywell, Breconshire and I am wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of where to find parish records for this time.  I am trying to ascertain who Morgan's Mother and Father were and also if there were any siblings.

Morgan goes on to live in Senny, Breconshire and appears on the census  of 1841 and 1851. I believe he died in 1856 though I do not know where he is buried ??

Many thanks

Hi eac,

Have had a quick look at this but can't seem to get any further than you already have.  It appears that his wife's name was Elizabeth.  The death cert may give a clue as to his address at time of death and who the informant was:

Morgan Counwill Jun qtr 1856 Brecknock volume 11b
For ordering certs:
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

As you have probably seen in the census returns, there are a few Conwils + name varients in Breconshire who could be siblings to Morgan.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks for answering - as I dont live in the area I was hoping there was a way of finding parish records online, but this dosent appear to be so does it ?  I have had contact from someone with the name Conwill who's descendant lived in Senny (the David that shows up on censuses) and this is the reason I am trying to find a bit more info to see if we can link the two together .......

Thanks for info Garfydd - Morgan is the one I was looking for his daughter also had an illeg child, this is Ann my great great grandmother - she is buried in Trealaw, Rhondda.  I was actually trying to connect David 1821 to my tree but I dont think I can - not unless David 1806 and Morgan were somehow related ??

We did visit Devynnog once to try and find graves in the parish church with no success, unfortunately it was on the weekend when there was nobody about to ask

Thanks for checking them out !
