Age at marriage
« on: Monday 11 April 05 18:10 BST (UK) »
Hi Folks.
I am still searching for my G-Grandmother, who is proving elusive to say the least! I have come up with two possibilities and both of them would have been around 14 years old at the time of their respective marriages, would this have been posible in the early 1900's or am i barking up the wrong tree yet again?.
Thanks
Julie

Hi Sandra
Not much as far as details go i'm afraid, it is one of those every end is a dead end searches at the moment. I am still waiting for certificates which i hope will tell me more, all i know is her name was Ann (plain with no E) Rose b;c 1885 and was married in 1905 to john william clay in Mansfield. If 1885 is right it would make her 20, but there are loads of annes and annies, only a few ANNS
Regards
Julie

Don't discount the spelling variations, People in those days just didn't care about how their name was spelt, Or someone else had written their names.
