John Fox Life Guards

According to his discharge papers John enlisted in the Life Guards in April 1791 aged 23. His birth place is given as Haelbron, Germany.

How can I find out where he enlisted which might give me a clue as to whether he was German or British.

Hi Carolyn

The 1st Life Guards were only formed in 1788. They were based in London until 1812 so he must have enlisted in London.

The Household Cavalry have a lot of duplicate records so it would be worth contacting them - http://www.householdcavalrymuseum.co.uk/
