Allingham family

I am interested in finding any links with the Allingham family who lived in central London in the late 1700s/ early 1800s. My direct link is through Eliza Allingham (my 3 x great-grandmother) who was born in South Moulton Street in March 1827 (Parish of St George's Hanover Square). Her father was George Allingham who was born in 1790 in either St Ann's Soho or St James Westminster parishes, and his father was James Allingham. I cannot find James's birth but have found his will and at the time he made that he was living in East Street, St Marylebone. That is also where George seems to have worked as a victualler in the 1830s and 1840's. There seem to be several other Allinghams around in London at that time who were victuallers - it seems reasonable to think that they might be related but I haven't, yet, been able to work out how. I would be interested in any connections or suggestions.

James and Sarah may of course not have been born in London but arrived there like many others.

I will have a better look later..... I hadn't picked up the child christened at St Luke's, Old Street, certainly, and that is a big help.

Nigelp, you are a busy man! I've  posted two questions - this and the one in Dartford - and you are helping with both! Thanks. I think that the George Hallingham entry must be the right person, I simply feel a bit twtchy that in two census returns George gives his place of birth as 'St Anne's, Soho'. It does look as if the family moved about quite a bit so maybe they did live in Soho for a while?
