Thanks Debbie,

I've just been piecing Edith's life together based on dates that I have here in the UK and dates from Susan. One family myth about Ernest already knocked on the head!
Reading between the lines Edith had quite a rough time of it. Are there any details such as address, cause of death etc?

It's interesting that Florence had reverted to her maiden name and was not Mrs Alton. Anything on Alice, the younger daughter?

The image of the death certificate is on the beta family search site....which is absolutely wonderful!!  It contains the address where the family was living at the time and also the cause of death details.  I would save a copy of it as in the past sometimes images disappear from this site never to be seen again.

Once you find the entry, there is an icon which looks to me like a camera and when you select that the image will load.  Sometimes this site is a little finicky so don't get discouraged.  I noticed that Kewley is transcribed as Rewley....so search for Edith Rewley as the first/middle name and Alton as the surname.

So it would seem that the 1920 Census I found and the 1930 that *Sandra* found are probably your Florence.

Morning *Sandra*,
In your post of 2 December you quoted from the 1930 census for Glendale CA relating to Frank Alten and Florence Alten. I have been unable to access this info on the Familysearch beta site. How can I access (& hopefully copy) the original image of the census page?
I have accessed the images for earlier censuses; is there a time based restriction on the 1930 census?

Hi Aceh

You can search the California Death Index at the following site.  Florence and husband, Frank T., are indexed under the surname Alten.

Hi Aceh,

Apologises, I did't get a notification of Reply 20 but if you would like to send me a personal message with your e-mail address I will arrange for a copy of the 1930 census to be forwarded to you.

Regards
Sandra
