Hi diddy,

No, I have not seen that book.  I just checked with my local library and they have a copy.  I will take a look at it.

Thanks
RK

Hi  CJL and RK,

May I but in on this thread?  I am looking into the brick wall of a GGgrandmother. My research has told me a number of things which seem to fit into these people possibly being Quakers.

I have a relative ? buried in Middlesborough in 1886. there are no other burials that fit that I can find - interestingly they died in Cullingworth. So why bury someone so far away. Then I put a couple of things together when I found Linthorp has a Quaker burial site attached dating from before the death of the relativeand Linthorpe proper only commenced in 1869 after the death. Linthorpe is also the oldest cemetry in Middlesborough. not only all this but the family lived out on the Yorkshire Dales  - Quaker area of significance. There are no Marriage records either for this person which also could mean they were Quakers - i guess quakers didn't register marriages back in the 1860's .

I found this thread as part of a Google search. I am so glad I checked as there is great info from CJL

Thankyou and I shall return to see if these records can be found - very interested and expectant.

Essnell.

Have you tried contacting Teesside Archives?  I know there are books of MIs for Linthorpe Cemetery, and they also have the burial registers.  Whether these contain records of Quaker burials/MIs, I don't know, but it would be worth contacting them.  This link gives you the contact details:

Good luck!

Hi,

Someone else with elusive Quaker ancestry :) :).   It is certainly a challenge!

I found mine in the Linthorpe cemetery, Quaker section (CJL gave me the link):
http://www.gravestonephotos.com/public/cemetery.php?cemetery=478

There are 2 pages of listings here, all of which have photos which you can request.   I hope your ancestors are here too.

I read the book that Diddy mentioned and it was very informative.  Maybe your library has a copy.

The RG6 nonconformist registers turned up several people with the last name I am researching,  It is a very helpful resource.   Unfortunately - the dates for these people are a bit too early for me to figure out how they might fit with the ones currently on my tree.  I have noted all the information for future reference though.   :) :).    I am always hopeful...

This is also a very informative site:

Good luck!!

Maybe she could do just that.

i have left this searching lie for a while so will return later.

thanks all.

Happiness always.
