That is brilliant. In fact it has made my xmas. I started researching my ancestry several months ago and knew from a starting point that Robert Cork was my most distant ancestor. I was hoping to extend this and thanks to you i know a little more now. ;D ;D

Thanks also to Roger for your offer of help......its vey much appreciated.

Hope you both have had great xmas's and I hope 2011 is a really good year for you both.

Best wishes

Paul

You are most welcome, Paul.  Happy to make your Christmas just a tiny bit brighter.

Have a super 2011!

Sincerely,
Susan

P.S.  Both Cuckow couples at Ospringe had a son named Richard.

Hello Roger,

Sorry to poke my nose in and spoil your trip, but then, I haven't heard if Kent is buried under snow - only know about Heathrow's weather woes last week - so maybe a good thing in any event.

In the meantime, my best wishes for a Happy New Year!  I hope it's a good one for you.

Sincerely,
Susan

Thank you Susan, your kindness and time are much appreciated Every lead that is unearthed puts another  piece in a rather large jigsaw.  I think i will have to make a trip to Teynham and the surrounding area at some point. It looks as if this particular area of Kent may offer up quite a few ancestors. I know Teynham and Faversham and Eastling all feature in my family history. I am in Bedfordshire, having gentically arrived from Singapore,Kent,Suffolk,Ireland Cardiff and Wales. Now theres a combination for you.

kind regards

Paul

Paul

It may or may not be relevant, but a Richard Cork was killed in a gunpowder explosion in Faversham on 16 January 1810.   He was aged 39, his wife was Catherine, and he had had a daughter Deborah by her.

Susan

I see you are interested in Bodeker.   In the same vein, several of the family were involved in the Faversham explosives industry in the late 19th/early 20th centuries.

If either of you want to know more, please contact me at the Faversham Tourist Information Centre for which addresses are available on the Faversham website www.faversham.org

Hello Arthur,

Thank you for thinking to look at my names of interest.  That is very kind.  I was in touch with Arthur P. many years ago at the Faversham society.  Lately, I've been seriously considering joining the society as I am desperately in need of monumental inscriptions for my Rucks.  But as with all personal hobbies work has over-run most of my free time.  This break with the holiday has been nice. :)  Hopefully, I can find some time during the new year to renew my contact with the society.

In the meantime, thank you again for your thoughtfulness.  Have a wonderful New Year!

Sincerely,
Susan

Hi Arthur,

Thanks for that.....I am wondering now if Richard Cork was a brother or cousin of David Cork  b1776 in Faversham that Susan mentioned earlier. The date of Richard Corks death would put his DOB around 1770-1771. If you'll excuse the gunpowder pun.The plot thickens. Intriguing it would be interesting to learn more.

Happy New Year Everyone. :)
