Hi
There is no name index for the 1861 in Stockport, do you have an address from the 1871 or 1851 maybe ?

Joseph Burgess head 52 farmer 64 acres born Marple
Mary                           49                                   Thornsett Derbyshire
Ann 19 born Brinnington
James 18
Mary 17
George 15
John 11
Sarah 9
Jane 7
Hannah 5
Joseph 3
Eliza 1 month

1861 RG9-2571-F105 Woodhouses farm Brinnington

Joseph head 62 farmer 66 acres
Mary wife 58
Ann daug 29
James son 28
George 26
John 21
Sarah 19
Jane 17
Hannah 15
Joseph 12

It looks as if John is looking after the farm by 1871 and the family has split up or married and moved on, if there is any of them you would like me to find in 1871 please ask.

Hi Peter

You are a star!!!!  Thank you so very much this is the family I was searching for.  Well done you!
It would be so kind if you could look at 1871 as well for me, I am cheeky I know but my Mum always taught me if you don't ask you don't get.

Many many thanks again.

Best regards Fran.

Hi Peter,

I am chasing Hannah Burgess, I have her from 1881 onwards and just trying to fill in the missing links before that.
If you could find her in 1871 it would be a great help.  I know she was in Stockport 1871 as she had an illegitimate child in Stockport in 1871.

Many thanks Fran.

Hi Fran
The 1871 census shows that Hannah is staying with her married sister Sarah.
I believe I have traced all the other brothers and sisters in the 1871 all apart from Ann and will post again when I find out what happened to her.

1871 RG10-3649-F 88  Thornsett Derbyshire

James Hadfield head 50 farmer 60 acres born Marple Cheshire
Sarah               wife 30                                     Brinnington
Hannah Burgess sister/in/law 23 dairy maid Brinnington
Abraham Ainsworth servant 20                     Mellor Derbyshire

regards
