Hi folks,

thanks for your latest contributions.

The Samuel Ackerley who died in 1898 was in Queensland and his parents were John Ackerley and Margaret Chester.  I don't think that was him.  To travel from Tasmania to Victoria or even NSW might be possible but I would be surprised it he had gone further north, especially as he had married children living in Victoria.

The Mary Ackerley who died in 1894 , New Norfolk - Tasmania was 18 so no go there either.

The census info I had come across previously on the tas.gov. site but I have other information that indicates that Samuel may have already left Tasmania by 1948 and as someone else pointed out earlier there are not enough children listed to be my family. In 1848 there should have been 5 children 12yrs or under.

I had found some of the marriage details for James Ackerley and Mary Antrobus on familysearch, but had not come across the banns info.

I also did a search for Mary Antrobus' birth and was surprised to discover that it appears to have been a quite common name.  More than one possible, but  the info about Sankey-Warrington is very helpful.

thanks Wendy.  ;)

I just searched the newly expanded Australian Convict Collection on Ancestry - I think you'll be surprised if you do. Lots of Sam Ackerley info there.

Hello all,

I had contact some time ago with someone who was researching the line of Ackerleys from Warrington and Winnick. I did have some details and think the tree went back to the 17th century.

I will see if I can find the details of the person concerned if you would like them Wendy. I would send via PM for confidentiality.

Jo.

Hi to Shep and Jo,

Thanks for the suggestions Shep, I'm already an Ancestry member and have all of Samuel's convict records etc, from his convictions on........at this stage trying to establish his DOB and ancestry back in England, and thanks to helpful people like you I have received some very real possibilities.

To Jo: I would be very interested in any possible  contacts you may have.

Thanks  Wendy. :)
