The 1861 shows the first child was born in Scotland and there is no marriage on freebmd in Northumberland

As both James and Mary were born in Ireland - is it possible they may have married there before leaving Ireland?

Get the 1855 birth certificate from SP. It will tell you when and where they were married, and a lot more besides.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

John's birth certificate says: John Craig born 2nd. January 1855 Bakehouse Close Edinburgh. Father James Craig shoemaker,  24yrs born Ireland. and Mary Broadley 19yrs. born Ireland. Married Berwick May 1854.
I haven't found a marriage record anywhere in Ireland, Scotland or England.
To mention Berwick, there must have been some family connection with Berwick, the next child Mary Ann was born in Berwick in 1857 and they settled there.
I am descended from James b. 1868 Berwick. He is John's younger brother. His birth certificate names Mary as Bradley not Broadley.
