Hi Heiserca

Thanks for the info

re Helen Kerr she did marry the 2nd James Clazie 1786 at Hutton

She was born Coldstream 03/04/1763 and died  Chirnside 15/04/1826 .

 They had 10 children

Her parents were James Kerr 1725-1812 Berwickshire and Lucy Pitt 1725-1790

Thanks, Margaret.  The Helen Kerr born at Coldstream is one possibility among many, but what proof have you found that she is the correct Helen, who married James Clazie/Clezie?  Several knowledgeable researchers have considered her but are not convinced.

One reason to doubt the dentification is the mother you mentioned, Lucy Pitt.  The Clazie family closely followed the traditional naming pattern:

- 1st son after father's father; 1st daughter after mother's mother
- 2nd son after mother's father; 2nd daughter after father's mother
- 3rd son after father; 3rd daughter after mother

In all the Clazie/Clezie/Clazey/Clazy/Clezy generations that are known, there isn't one Lucy or a Pitt.  Therefore, serious doubt that Lucy Pitt's daughter was our ancestor.  Not impossible... but if there is any evidence, please share it.

Clezie (Clazie, Clezy, Clazy, Clazey, Claise, etc.), Lockhart, Heiser, Schwab, Tomon, Zarnowski, Megert, Iseli

Wow....I had narrowed down the choices for Helen to three....and this evening I looked at the certificate for James Ker, Esq. with the baptism of a daughter....and for some reason, I thought it just might be her but....there was also a William married to Margaret Burn that was also a possibility.... thank you!
