Slow Certs delivery
« on: Sunday 02 January 11 11:23 GMT (UK) »
I live in Ireland, after deserting England for a quieter life.

If I order certs from the GRO, they generally take 7-8 days to arrive. (I am OK with this.).

10 days before Christmas I did a bit of online shopping at Amazon.   It was a large item, but arrived in under 3 days from time of ordering it. :o

Perhaps I should order my certs boxed up. ;D

Over the christmas holiday period, I have found GRO excellent and fast on the speed of delivery.

It may be your mail service which is slow.

As I live abroad(Southern Ireland), I accept that there is a difference compared to the British mainland.

But it doesn't explain the time difference between letters and parcels.

The 7-8 day cert delivery remains pretty constant throughout the year.

I find it amusing myself, another of those quirks of life. ;D

;D ;D ;D......I don't think so, but if they did, we could get full refund if we didn't like the 'product'. ;D

You might find that GRO was closed for quite a few days over Christmas and New Year, whereas Amazon was still available.

I have always found Amazon brilliant at delivering orders, apart from this Christmas when they seem to have been held up by the Royal Mail.  However, when I advised them on Christmas Eve that a parcel despatched on 11 December hadn't arrived, they instantly refunded the payment I'd made them and sent me an e-mail telling me what to do if the parcel arrived.  It did, of course, a couple of days ago, so I clicked onto the link to Amazon and was able to print off a return note and an pre-paid address label.  Amazon it seems are is taking the blame for all the late Royal Mail deliveries.
