I don't know if this is your James Riches, but I found this in the Suffolk, England: Parish and Probate Records

Suffolk: -

I have a Esther Riches (b. 1821- Laxfield- d. 1910 Ipswitch) -father James Riches

She was married to Samuel Ramsey(b. 1816 Swilland- d. 1857 Bosmere)

Children:

James( b.1840)- married Emma Spall
Rebekah(b.1845)-married henry Bantoft
Samuel( b. 1847)-Hannah ?
Rueben( b. 1848)
George (b. 1848?)married Maria Spall
Edward (b. 1850)-married  Sarah Rose
Catherine(b.1852)- Married Asa Broom
Joseph(b.1855)-married Eliza Hazlewood/ Hazelwood
Allan ( b. 1857)-married Alice L. ___?

Hi,

I also have a Riches connection- they must have been a very busy Family ;D

Frederick Riches DELF married Elizabeth Loutid Leggett,Gt Yarmouth 1875. He was born 1853, died 1923.
Presume his Mother was a RICHES.

Hi

I don't know if my family is connected to yours or not. I have a John Riches baptised Fressingfield 1/8/1781 to John and Elizabeth Riches (nee Feveryear). They also had a son called James 18/2/1787.

In 1841 there are two possible James and I havent managed to work out which of these (if any) is the son of John and Elizabeth.

Hoxne
James 50, Bathsheba 50, Mary Ann 12, Rose 25.

Fressingfield
James 65, Mary 60, Lydia 15, Benj 11, Sarah 8

I'm inclined to think it's the second one because the names Lydia and Benjamin are consistently used in Johns family. Also, they are living next door to a William Riches aged 50 which might be their brother baptised in 1785 Fressingfield.

I am not sure but I think that one James (sr) (abt 1791) was the father to the James( jr) (abt 1821) Esther(b.1822) . Possible other children in that family- may have been -Amos(abt 1820) & Benjamin(b.abt 1831)

James(jr) (b. abt 1821)- married Susan ___?- children appear to be Thomas, Mary, Ban, Amos , David, Jane( 1871 & 1881 census)- Hoxne Laxfield

Amos(abt 1820)- married Phoebe _____?

Benjamin( abt 1831) married Mary ____?

Witnesses to Esther Riches & Samuel Ramsey marriage (2nd quarter-1840)- "Father’s names are Edward Ramsey and James Riches. It was signed in the presence of Allen Ramsey and Caroline Cooper. Their marks were crosses X. I have just noticed that Esther was under age. "

In 1901 -shows Esther living with her son Edward -

Fressingfield parish records show a christening for Henry Riches 1825 son of James & Mary Riches (nee Clarke).
Other siblings Lydia 1823, Mary 1825, Robert 1826, Benjamin 1828 & Sarah 1831.
My guess is that James in the son of John & Lydia Riches (nee Potter m 1804).
John Riches is the eldest son of John Riches & Elizabeth Feveryear.
John & Elizabeth are my 5xggp, I am decended through their son James Riches (1787-1851)
