George Hutchinson - Artist
« on: Friday 07 January 11 16:06 GMT (UK) »
I am researching a Victor Jullee Hutchinson • 1888 - ? a photographer born in Camden Town.

His father is shown as George Hutchinson born 1853 in Canada . Occupation: Portrait Painter (Artist)
Married to Eleanor born 1854 in Clapham, Surrey.
I wondered if this George is the same person as George Hutchinson, the Canadian Illustrator of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island in ‘Chums’ magazine from 29 August 1894 to 2 January 1895, It seems to fit, but I cannot find a connection anywhere.

In 1881 the family are living at 11 Pancras Road, St Pancras with 3 children
Benjamin J born 1876 in Canada
Mary E born 1879 in Canada
Christiana E born 1881 in St Pancras, Middlesex
--------------------------
In 1891 at 4 The Gables, Hampstead
Benjamin J Occupation: Art Student
Mary E - Scholar and Christiana E - Scholar
George W (5) born 1886 in London and Victor Jullee (3) born 1888 in London
--------------------------
In 1901 at 11 Effra Road, Wimbledon (George Hutchinson - Not shown)
Still married to Eleanor B with children
Mary E as Maria (22) born  in Nova Scotia, Canada. Occupation: Music Teacher
Christiana E as Chrissie (21) born 1880 in Kings Cross, Middlesex. Helping At Home
George W (15) born 1886 in Camden Square, London. Occupation: Apprentice
Victor Jullee (13) born 1888 in Camden Square, London - At School
---------------------------
In 1911    at 104a High Street, Walthamstow (George Hutchinson - Not shown)
Still married to Eleanor B with children
Marie (26) born in Nona Lestra. Occupation: Milliner
Victor Hutchinson (23) born in Camden Town. Occupation: Photographer

George W also seems to have become a photographer as he is married and living in Hampden Park, Sussex with his wife Evelyn Majorie.

If anybody has any leads to George or the family, I would be grateful

Hi,  I am also researching my family tree and I can tell you that Victor Jubilee Hutchinson was my Grandfather.  He moved to Clacton On Sea in Essex under another name - Victor John King.  Can you tell me what has made you interested in researching him please?

Hi Spud01
You will see from my profile that I am researching early East London photographers/film makers.
I am not connected to the family.
Victor Jullee Hutchinson was a Photographer in Walthamstow.

Thank you for your info. Do you know when he changed his name and moved?

I would be most grateful if you could confirm connection with father and details I have posted.
Regards

Hi.  Victor is proving difficult to get information on.  I know he was a photographer at BeeHive Cottage, Old Road, Clacton as he came up on another photography website.  He never officially changed his name but we know 4 of his children were born in Kingston Surrey until 1921 and then 4 other children were born in Clacton from 1924.   I have located a website about Elizabeth Bishop a famous poet in Canada and George Hutchinson is her Great Uncle.  I think according to this information George Wylie Hutchinson is related to Victor Hutchinson.  I have marriage certificates that state Our George Hutchinson's father was Robert Hutchinson - Seaman.  I have attached the website for you.

Sadly my Dad's brother burnt all the photographs and camera's owned by Victor Hutchinson.  If you manage to find any more information or photos relating to Victor I would be very happy.

Hi

I have attached the photography website for you however I did ask them to send me the details on Victor King - which was the address at Old Road, Clacton

http://www.cartedevisite.co.uk/photographers-category/photographers/photographers-k/

Victor Hutchinson didn't marry twice.  His wife was Esmeralda Ellen Jones - changed again to either Esmeralda or Ellen King.  However they actually never married.

George Hutchinson appears to have married twice - once to Eleanor Blanche Jones and then to Lilly Yerbury in 1918.  George Hutchinson also lived in Clacton later in his life.

Hope this helps you!

Don't know if this could be his Esmeralda Ellen Jones (born abt 1877 - it says place of birth is not known), but she is shown in 1891 as an orphan at the Orphanage of the Sisters of Bethany, Christchurch, Hampshire.
Also VJ is resident at 129 Old Road, Clacton in 1933.
