Hi

I haven't found any yet...plenty of James Mitchell's and Anna/Ann but none so far with

mother's surname Crane. Do you know when they died/ were buried?

Is that all you know? Where did they live after marriage? What was James' occupation?

What relation are they to you?

Sorry for all the questions but the more we know the more likely it is that someone may be

able to help you ;D

Joy :) :)

Yes they are in my ancestry.  I can go back as far as one of their children, Peter who married Janet Kemp.  I was trying to go back farther to see if Peter had any children, since we know his Mom and Dad were James and Anna.  They were married in December 23, 1785 according to a cousin who looked up Scotlands People.  GROS Data 177/0000100317 .  He's new to this, Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.  Ask any questions that may help you.

They lived in the hamlet of Bridgend, new Carbrach, also near Dufftown in Aberdeenshire Scotland.

You'll get on better if you spell it Cabrach not Carbrach :-)

It is a parish mostly in the County of Banff with a small part in the County of Aberdeen. None of it is in the County of Moray but all of it is now in the present-day version of Moray, along with most of the rest of the County of Banff. It's a few miles south-east of Dufftown, which is in the neighbouring parish of Mortlach in the county of Banff. None of these places are in present-day Aberdeenshire.

For genealogical research purposes it's in the County of Banff, also known as Banffshire.

Bridgend is in Lower Cabrach; there's also Upper Cabrach further to the south-east.

See http://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/NJ3731 and surrounding map squares.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

I am thinking it isn't Anna Crane I am looking for but Agnus Paterson.  Can anyone maybe see if this would make sense.  Thanks for any help.

Not seeing any Peter born to a James Mitchell and Agnes Paterson unfortunately. There are some children showing to a couple with these names, ranging from 1802-17. All entries show on IGI in Tullynessle And Forbes And Kearn, Aberdeenshire.

As suggested earlier, might be worth you putting a post here www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,319813.0.html

I am doing a single parish study of the genealogy of Cabrach which was split between Aberdeenshire and Banffshire. Anyone with links to this parish please get in touch (with requests or with information).
