Thomas Pearson look up
« on: Saturday 08 January 11 15:24 GMT (UK) »
Can someone do a look up for me, as my sub has expired!! Doh!

Can someone find Thomas Pearson born Hastings 1827 on the 1851/61 census, as I am trying to find where his father Thomas was born and when.  Thomas jnr's  siblings are Jane 1826 and Sarah c1832.

This is really an illimination exercise.
Thanks in advance!!

The census will not tell you anything about his father unless they were living together. The only probable Thomas Pearson age 25 was born at Hailsham Sussex. He was living in Hastings with wife Ann and two daughters Ann and Sarah. So with family naming and your Thomas having a sister called Sarah that is a possible.

HO107,Piece 1635, Folio 474, Page 71.
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.

That is him!!
I was hoping he was still at home, but having checked, he married in 1847.
In 1841, I suspect Thomas junior will be with parents Thomas & Sarah, but that census will tell me nothing about places of birth, which is what I am really after.
Seems this may be a brick wall - unless Thomas Pearson & Sarah can be found in 1851.  But I have no ages!

No!  I don't think that is him!

The reason why I am looking, is that I have done a lot of research into my 3x gt grandfather William and his brother Thomas (born Ewhurst Sussex) whose father was Thomas Pearson bapt Bodium 1780 and died in Ewhurst in 1864.

I have been contacted by someone on GR, who has a Thomas Pearson born Hastings 1827.  He is claiming that my Thomas senior, is his Thomas's father and I cannot see the link at all and have been trying to prove one way or the other.

Have you backed up your research with Certs ?

I understand how unsettling it is when a fly is put in the ointment.

Will have another look later, cooking dinner.
