***ABOUT THIS BOARD - PLEASE READ***
« on: Monday 17 January 11 19:03 GMT (UK) »

The resources here have all been compiled from topics submitted by RootsChatters - many thanks to everyone who has contributed.

Broken Links:

Please report any links that no longer work, or links that are no longer appropriate, by clicking the "Report to moderator" link on this message.

Link Categories and Topics:

To help you find useful links more easily, and to avoid duplications of links, they have been sorted into separate categories, each with its own topic.

(The original link topics have been deleted, so if you contributed to the original topic, you may have received a "deleted" notification e-mail .)

Adding a link to a new resource:

If you have a link which you wish to share with us, please first search the "Staffordshire Resources" board to ensure that it hasn't already been submitted.

If not, create a new topic on this board, briefly describing the site and why you think it is worth sharing.

The contents of your topic will then be edited into to the relevant category topic and your original posting will be deleted.  (This may result in you receiving a "deleted" notification e-mail.)

Offers of lookups, photos, etc.

Some RootsChatters very kindly offer to carry out lookups in parish registers, etc, or take photographs of certain places such as graveyards.  There is now a single topic here containing links to all such offers for Staffordshire.

The offer posts are "locked" for the sake of clarity: if you wish to request a lookup, please start a new topic on the Staffordshire Lookup Requests board.

If you have access to useful resources and wish to offer lookups or photos, please post a new topic on this board describing  the material that you have and any requirements for performing a lookup,  eg "approximate date needed".

IMPORTANT:  At the end of your post, remind anyone requesting a lookup to start a new topic on the Staffordshire Lookup Requests board.

The offer will be locked so that people cannot reply to it directly - this makes it easier for you to identify individual requests.

A link to your offer will then be added to the "Offers" topic, and your original posting will be moved to the main Staffordshire board.  (This may result in you receiving a "Moved" notification e-mail.)

Please do not offer to do lookups where this would breach copyright restrictions: any such offers will be deleted.

The reorganisation is part of an ongoing process aimed at making information easier to find, as well as improving the overall performance of RootsChat.   (See http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,497365.0.html )  It remains a work in progress!

With thanks for your understanding,

Rambler
