I came across this thread while looking into an artwork of one Rowland Hill, using "RIP" as a signature. I am a history of art undergraduate with the University of York and one of the main images that I am using in my final year dissertation is a cartoon published 1904 in a periodical called "Truth" and signed "RIP". This couple are in the 1939 Register and his occupation is appropriate.

This is intriguing.  I found a record of an Enid Vera Jacqueline Kenyon born Hill 1905 to 1987.  Parents are stated to be Rowland Pretty Hill and Elsie Virginie Hill born Le Tellier.

The administrations in 1946 of the estates of Louis Victor Colato and his wife Daphne Marie Ellen Colato who died in Burma were given to Rowland Pretty Hill and wife Elise Virginie:
