Thank you for the two probate entries I hadn't seen them.

So it seems that when Henry Eltham died, Rose claimed to be his widow as if legally married. She would have the certificate of the bigamous 1904 marriage to support her claim.
Then when Rose died it was as Rose Prior (with Rose Eltham as alternative name) with probate to her real husband, who would be able to prove it with the 1884 marriage certificate.

Just looked again at the 1911 census for the Prior household to see what I can make of son Albert.

There is a marriage for a Albert William Prior age 23 bac, soldier in Gt Ilford on 29 Jan 1917, father John Henry Prior carpenter. Bride is Florence Victoria Woolmer 22 spinster. A John Henry Prior is a witness, could be father or brother. Signature looks similar but not sure. On marriage JHP spelt Henry as Henery.
