Burial 1916
« on: Thursday 20 January 11 21:03 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Im trying to locate the grave of Oliver Tetley thought to have died in early 1916 after discharge from the Army.
I have a possible listed as Wharfedale jan-mar 1916 and i have his burnt record of service.
How do I find a cemetery..it is possible that its Liversedge,WYR as he is remembered on the Cleckheaton Cenotaph.

Any help much appreciated

Ady

Hi

I have looked at the War graves in the Kirklees area and he doesn't show up on my records.
I have had a look on the Commonwealth War Graves site and he is not listed there so it looks like he doesn't have an official War grave. (They are on the Kirkheatononlineparish website)
(I will have a look at the church records to see if I can find anything but that will have to be next week.)

Yes I am going to go to MOD as he is a potential Non Commemorated soldier with CWGC he died just after discharge so i need his DC to start with
Am also going to try and get Sgt Tom Hirst also of Liversedge added to Debt Of Honour he died after discharge of Brights Disease his record is also online
Have had a success with Ernest Gould of Hightown he has been accepted by CWGC however its over 18 months ago and CWGC still havent added him! Grave is unmarked in East Ardsley St Phillips(allegedly!)

Thanks

Ady

Having walked around Liversedge christ church "graveyard" today its doubtful the grave still exists as its been totally flattened by tarmac, the gravestones moved and in general a complete mess!  :(

Olivers DC has arrived he died as I suspected in a Sanatorium at Middleton of Pulmonary TB ....now to prove it was Service related...DC states contracted a year and 1 month before death which puts it back into his time in uniform so fingers crossed MOD adjudicator will say yes it was Service related.

Hi Jane
I will have some details I've researched a lot of the local casualties From Cleck,Liversedge,Hartshead etc.
Ill look at them over this weekend or so
Good to see theres a new memorial as the one by the church has no names although there are names inside the church.
