Property sales 1850s - 1870s

I'm interested in trying to find the sale of a farm property in Casterton around 1860.  I don't have any property details, but it's listed in census during 1800s as Town End farm, Casterton.

Can anyone suggest how I might go about checking when it was sold?

PS: At least part of the property is now Town End Garage, Casterton, surrounded by houses, but I'm not sure when it ceased to be a farm

In Cumbria Carlisle (Closed for moving at present), there is an index of sales particulars they hold.  I;m not sure how early they start or whether there are any for Westmorland.  Worth an email though.  I know they sent Westmorland section of some records to Kendal and they are open.

Of course they would be in the newspapers by way of sales advertisements, but without a date, very long winded.

If the family had property, did anyone leave a will, which might at least mention any transfer at death?

Just a few thoughts.
