Hi Dee,
You mention a HENRY THOMAS SELWAY.

I don't know if he is yours, but there are details of Probate in Victoria for a man of that name.  A buthcher of North Melbourne who died in 1910.

His widow GEORGINA is granted and there were no children.

An outstanding debt needed to be settled from the estate which was entitled "Lunacy Maintenance" and was owed to the Kew Asylum.

Thanks, Sue.....but I've found my Henry Thomas SELWAY"s death in 1933 in Western Australia.   

I am wondering though, whether more of the SELWAYS in Australia are linked. There seem to be a lot of the same names used. My Frederick and Thomas were from a family of 12 children. So far I have only located 4 of them. The William Thomas SELWAY on South Australia though was from Middlesex, whereas my SELWAYS came from Somerset.

There was a convict with the surname Selway in Tasmania also there is a paragraph on a John Selway in THE CYCLOPEDIA OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA, John came out from Middlesex in the 1850s and Arthur John Selway was his eldest son.

Just checked my database and the Vic BMD, Annie......wrong couple......my Ethel Annie married an Archibald Richard GILLHAM in South Australia in 1908. The one above was an Ethel Annie GILBERT who married Alfred George GILLHAM in Vic in 1909.

Would love to be able to claim the Tasmanian convict!      

I know John SELWAY in S A  had an Arthur John as a son. But the Arthur SELWAY who married Kate Cavanagh and went to Western Australia was the son of my Frederick.....marriage notice in the paper gave this information.

I am hoping to prove that Arthur and Kate either separated or divorced, as Arthur appears to have either married or lived with another woman, and had at least one child by her. I'm hoping to find out that Arthur was living with an Agnes in one of the Electoral rolls.

Right.....gotta take a trip to the vet to collect dog food. I'll be back a bit later. Thanks, everyone for the help.......
