Hi Genealogistsykes,

1901
RG13/5319 38 12
St Peter Port, Guernsey
3 Back Street

Philip Kearley, head, 53, Labourer general, b. Jersey St Peters
(no first name), wife, 39, b. Scotland
Jinne, dau, 8, b. do.
Elizabeth, dau, 6, b. do.
Ellen, dau, 2, b. do.
Adalene, dau, 2 months, b. do.

From there, the free 1911 census search (www.1911census.co.uk) should confirm that the wife was Jeannie as the first daughter.

Then the free search here www.GenesReunited.co.uk/records/srlanding19x1.aspx?searchtype=c1911
will show you their exact birth places.

 :)

The free 1911 search doesn't reveal any other kids.

I'm not sure whether they had any older ones. I'm having trouble finding Philip between 1861 (when he's a servant mext door to his parents', RG9/4406 75 11) and 1901.

The 1891 Scotland census for Barony Lanarkshire finds a Philip Kerley born Jersey, married to a Maggie (no children). He's a sailor. Possibly your man, except his age is given as 50.

It should be worth looking for his marriage to Jeannie - probably in Scotland, I suppose.

Yes, I think so.

The free scotlandspeople search www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk finds only one marriage for Philip Kearley (none for Kerley). I don't know whether it's to a Maggie or a Jeannie, or what year it was.

The pilot familysearch site http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch has these christenings, telling us Jane's maiden name:

Helen Kearley, 20 Feb 1899, Saint Pierre Port, Guernsey
parents Philip Kearley and Jane Rankin

Adelina Kearley, 4 Feb 1901, Saint Pierre Port, Guernsey
parents Philip Kearley and Janie Rankin

okay great!  :D Do you know if the father George Kearley was George Phillip Kearley or George Samuel Kearley as there are two records at the Jersey Archive for them.

How do you know that Pilip Kearley was a sailor as i thought on the 1901 census he was a servant?  :)

I don't know anything! I merely found a Philip, sailor, in the 1891 Scotland census who might be your Philip, but as I said his age is a few years out.

As far as George is concerned, the censuses don't show his middle name  :-\
