has sandal Magna records. put in  sykes / west yorks / scroll down to sandal magna

the marriage is there as 23 dec 1782. witnesses listed.

26 baptisms for sykes 1780 - 1800 but having searched first 10 haven't found any to william yet.

Think the parents of William are: Samuel Sykes and Mary Rhodes but can't seem to find the marriage on familysearch.org (the new and old site) and also FreeReg.

I have an Elizabeth Depledge in my tree. Mine was baptised in Sandal Magna on 22 April 1753 d/o of John and Grace Depledge. I believe they were John Depledge and Grace Askin who married in Sandal Magna on 30 Jun 1745. John might be the one baptised on 26 Dec 1720 in Sandal Magna s/o John and another Grace. I have found a marriage for a John Depledge and Grace Jepson on 24 Sep 1717 in Sandal Magna. The marriage record says that John snr was of Bretton.

I haven't researched Elizabeth, my direct ancestor is her brother William. But I haven't found that she died young or as a spinster, so that's a good sign.

I've just rechecked my notes on John Depledge / Grace Jepson and scan of marriage, it looks like Bretton was an error for his origin, but I think some of their children were baptised there.

(All my older records still in a bit of a muddle as they had to be recovered from the hard drive of my old dead pc and transferred to new one in a hurry. Somehow some of the file names truncated to 8 characters.)
