BROMELL Family from Devon
« on: Tuesday 01 February 11 12:03 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Is anyone researching the Bromell family -William & Catherine Bromell were farmers. There were at least 10 children my interest is their daughter Olive Bromell
b1891 Frithelstock died 1979 Illinois USA.
Olive married g grandpa's cousin William Symons several years after arrival in America.
When she emigrated in 1912 her parents were farming at St Mary Devon
Thanks

Thanks yes that's the family.
Why Olive should leave for the US on her own at the age of 21 has made me curious. Hopefully someone will be researching the family and may have the answer.

In 1911 she had already left home and was working as a domestic servant.

Does William Hoskin mean anything?!  ;)

Sorry no.
William Symons left Cornwall in 1908 they married in 1915 so it doesn't look as if she left the UK to meet up with him him.
According to the ships record she had no occupation and there were no other Bromells on the ship.
If someone is researching  her siblings they may have the answer.

Thanks for your interest
