No Victoria GURR on the passenger records and a can't see a death on freebdm prior to George and Ann's embarkation.

I wonder if John Gurr aka John Henry Gurr m. Agnes Kate (fmly) HARRIS (nee) BLEECHMORE after Emma Selina died in 1892.

First husband George Ebenezer Harris d. 22 Apr 1886. leaving her with three children.

I can't find a marriage record but a Kathleen Cleaveland Gurr was b. 22 July 1895 to a John Henry Gurr and Agnes Kate (fmly) HARRIS (nee) BLEECHMORE at New Glenelg.

And .......

From: The Advertiser, Wednesday 9 September 1903
Gurr v. Sari.
In this case, Mary Ellen Gurr, represented by Mr S. H Bleechmore, asked for a decree nisi for divorce from Humphrey Joseph Gurr on the ground of cruelty and desertion.
The Chief Justice said he had tried the case, and it was the most shameful he had ever had before him. The respondent - he supposed he must call him a man - had flung a boot at the petitioner and had thus caused a serious trouble. At a critical time he had pulled the bed from under her and the wife had been practically starved. It was a pity that the law could not step in and punish such men.
The decree nisi would be granted.

They had one daughter.

Humphrey Joseph Gurr (1868 - ) was the first son of Valentine Gurr and m. Edith May West 12 Jun 1876.

They had no children.

To Trish, Dee, Essie, ~MERLIN~, Chris and Cando with your help I have been able to trace the families of George Gurr and his descendants that came to SA in the 1800s and our posts were read a staggering 832 times at my last count.

I have produced a chart and a report and posted them on the web for those who are interested.

My interest is in Joshua Gurr who was a friend of Pastor Joseph Abbott and any relationship with my mum's Heggaton or Dufty Families of Middleton and Yankalilla.

So on checking Trove spotted this:

1866

GURR.-On the 19th January, at Divett-street,
Mary Ruth Gurr, daughter of the late John Gurr, Grenfell-street, aged 18 years.

so that would possibly fit the Mrs Gurr and Child, and is not one of these

Not related to the Family but there is a JOSEPH Gurr arriving in Sth Australia 11/11/1847 on the "ANTILLA" from London.

Maybe a possibility?

Trish :)

There is also a Joseph Gurr born 1819 Lewes, Sussex and died 1910, who emigrated to Australia aboard the Moffat in August 1839, married Jean Ogilvie of Elgin Scotland on the 25th July 1845, had one son and many grandchildren and had an Iron and coal yard in Currie Street, Adelaide and was an executor  in 1856/7 of James Phillips a distant relation of mine.
