ROBERTS - RABBETS / WILTSHIRE, Manningford Bruce

Hello All

i am looking for any information in regards to

ROBERTS John born c 1781
GULLEY Ann born c 1784

they had following children that i know of migrated to Australia
ROBERTS, John born c 1820 migrated  to NSW  Australia (confirmed)
ROBERTS, Matthew born c 1830   migrated  to NSW  Australia (confirmed)
ROBERTS, Isaac born c 1810    transported to Van Diemans Land  Australia (confirmed)

these children i believe remained in UK any information in regards to these children's lines would be greatly appreciated

ROBERTS, Stephen born c.1810
ROBERTS, James born c. 1809
ROBERTS, Thomas born c. 1814
ROBERTS, William born c. 1816
ROBERTS, George born c 1806
ROBERTS, Hannah born c. 1818
ROBERTS, Charles born c 1822
ROBERTS, Joseph born c 1825

The other Family names of interest would also be DUNFORD, SIMPER, STRATTON that married into the ROBERTS family from what i have been told

Hi Greg

I am fortunate enough to live a couple of minutes from the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre (which incorporates the archives/ Record Office)  so I tend to try to do my bit by doing lookups there (when possible) where others have had no joy online. 
Are there specific questions you have that can't be found online regarding this family? Do you have info going back from John Roberts and Ann Gulley for example? I'd be pleased to do specific look-ups if you have any!

thank you for reply first of all greatly appreciated and also for kind offer of specific lookups

I basically put up post given that they had so many siblings and maybe other branches of family had already put together something.

I have already done all 3 siblings that are here in Australia.

At  this point i will see if i can find any more info online.

Once again thank you so very much for your kind offer, and if i get stuck i will be sure ask you.  Obviously if i can assist with any Australian resources drop me a line

no sadly not, i have heard family rumours of George, but i have not been able to pin point any information in regards to him.

i have been contacted by several distant members of the family that say he is from same family but i cant find any evidence of this.

I you have any information would be glad to know about it do you have any birth details and perhaps we can work back and forward from there.

From what i have been able to establish in Wiltshire records there were several several siblings to
John Roberts/Rabbits b.1782 approx so there could be connection there

these three i have evidence from

hats a shame.  I have traced my family back to Manningford Bruce, Wilshire England.  Records from the church indicate Jacob, his wife and 8 children lived there and so did his father was George.  I have nothing on George and Im not even sure if our two families interconnect at all.  I will try further and keep you up to date.  my email is *   Feel free to email me and I will send you what I have.

I have a copy of the ship's records etc

Hello all

I'm researching the STRATTON and RABBITS/ROBERTS families. So far, I know that John STRATTON and Mary RABBITS were married in 1831 at Manningford Bruce. One of the witnesses was Jacob ROBERTS. Mary was bap. 1811 in Manningford Bruce and was the daughter of Thomas RABBITS (sawyer; b. abt 1783 in Manningford Bruce) and Jane ANDREWS. In the 1841 UK Census, Thomas RABBITS is living with his wife, Mary, and presumably, his father George (aged 84).

I can't find Thomas' baptism record in Manningford Bruce. At first, I thought he might be the son of John and Mary baptised 1777, but this Thomas dies in 1779. No other appropriate possibilities have emerged. However, I've been able to locate George and Ann RABBITS having children in Manningford Bruce in the 1770s and 1780s. They include:

Mary bap. 1779, Manningford Bruce
Sarah bap. 1786, Manningford Bruce
William bap. 1789, Manningford Bruce

William RABBITS (b. 1789) has children:
Jacob bap. 1813, Manningford Bruce
Matilda bap. 1822, Manningford Bruce
Leonard bap. 1827, Manningford Bruce

Does anyone know if my Thomas RABBITS (b. abt 1783) is related to the people you've mentioned in these posts? Any help you could offer about the RABBITS or STRATTON families would be much appreciated.
