It is possible - though Carolyn has made the whole of the curve part of the same thing too -   Have you enlarged it to see that JL or just from what is on the thread ?    It is hard to see - but  . . . .   :-\   Hmmm   my feeling is that it isn't differentiated down the middle as you see it between the red and the green - still think it is damage to the photo.

Am quite prepared to be wrong however.   ;)   I often am!!   :D   If I can draw the line as I see it I will try to post it!

First wife, Gertrude,  born 1857, married 1885,  died 1889.

Children two girls    1.Ruby  1887 - 1960     2.  Grace Gertrude 1889 - 1889.

She looks too young to be the first wife doesn't she??

(Second wife - the famous 'Rebecca' was widowed, and married sister's widowed husband  - Percy.   Percy had 'mad eyes' some said!    ;)  )

Can't upload photo with my take -  won't let me 'cos I did something to it in photo-shop elements and though it reads as jpg, RC says it isn't -    :-[ :-[ :-[   :-\    However my line followed the red through the path of the green line on your take JL - in one smooth curve!

I'm coming to the same opinion as Prue's first message - a young girl of 13 or so, early 1870s, either with  a cape thrown over her arm/shoulder or sitting on a curved chair.

If it was an 1890s sleeve, it just wouldn't look like that side on.

So very early 1870s then if you two are correct!  So possibly Gertrude - maybe.   Don't suppose it is any use putting up a side on version of Ruby as an old lady for comparison is it??   ::)  ;)

If you do have photos of Ruby and Gertrude, it would be worth seeing them for comparative purposes  :)

Hi Again

I think Carolyn has noticed the sleeve variation as well -it comes out in her restores.

This is what i meant, Wiggy - the red is the chair and the green is the sleeve  :)

I think the little bundle is a topknot of hair - like a tiny bun!

JL

A late arrival and struggling to keep up with you both !

The green outline is most definitely where I would see the line of the sleeve. As for whether the background is a chair or a mark on the image, I couldn't be sure.

Pels. ( who is rarely wrong - cos she always says so !  )  :-X ;D

Well there you are then - from the horse's mouth!!   :P    ;D ;D ;D

I must say until you pointed that out, I wouldn't have even considered it - just thought is was a mark on the photo - as I said before   ;)

So what is that mark just out from your green line JL?  the mark which continues through the mark to the red border?  Golly - I'd draw it if I could!!   :-[  Hey I did it!!!
