Help, where have I gone wrong.

Think I need a manchester screwdriver for this computer.  I just cannot take it all in, wireless is on but not sure if I need to click on one of the networks etc on the list in connect panal, pressed on one which I think is wrong, so giving myself a rest from it all.

For the benefit of anyone following this thread
I have asked Helina if she can identify her cable modem/router.
The make/model should be on a label on the underside, failing that Orange (her provider) issued different devices to enable contact on the internet.
The link I provided gave help instructions for each (once identified) to set up the wireless connection that has been preventing Helina from using her laptop wireless free.
Untill this information is made available I am unable to assist.
I will now drop out of this thread untill such time as this information is available.

My router is a netgear n150 Wireless, ADS2+Modem router.DGN1000. Hope that helps.

On my connect window via connect panel have a list of sites/networks do not know which one to click on and think I've clicked on the wrong one

... then I assume that none of those 4 routers are you/yours?

If none of them are yours then you probably need to turn on the "wifi on/off" button/switch on the front to the left of the "push n connect" switch

That should then broadcast the id of your router and let you connect.

After turning on the wifi switch then you may need to go thru the "push n connect" sequence again.
