Have you contacted any other fairly locally based Family History Societies to see whether an exchange of speakers is a possibility?

Just a thought: have you asked your local studies librarian for an update on the library's holdings or suggestions on what little known resources might be lurking on the library shelves?  Your members and the librarian might find the experience of mutual interest and perhaps benefit.

Like Little Nell, I'd suggest contacting the local archives (or asking if they have any suggestions).  They should also be free, unless they have token charges for doing talks.

Or you get someone who hasn't spoken for a few years and get them to do either an update, or the same talk if the group they will be talking to has changed in the intervening years.

It might even save the library. 14 out of 26 to close in Doncaster, and similar closures elsewhere.
