Mile End Cemetery Portsea
« on: Thursday 17 February 11 22:53 GMT (UK) »
Looking for the burial dates of
John Fellows (Fellowes) and his sons Joseph Knapton, John William and Robert. The sons were baptised at St Mary's but died when young men. I gather Mile End was the cemetery near St Mary's around the early 1800s.
Thanks

Mile End Cemetery opened in 1831 and closed in 1955.  It is no longer visible since it lies under the continental ferry terminal.  Some 6,000 bodies/remains were removed from the cemetery to Kingston, but not all of them.

I have found these which look like your relatives.

John Fellows 24 March 1836 age 46
John William Fellows 9 Feb 1834 age 19

I can't find the other two - did they die later?

Thanks Nell.
Are you able to tell if they were in the same grave?
There is another John Fellows who died in Portsea in 1848.
Robert Fellows died in early 1853 and I have no idea when Joseph
Knapton Fellows died but he was born in 1812 but I can't find
 him on the 1841 Census.
