Hi Alun - thanks for your reply - couldn't quite work out how to reply to you again, so hopefully you'll see this! Thanks for the information on Evan - I haven't found out too much yet apart from Mary Williams being his wife, and their children Ann, David, John, Howell, Henry and Daniel. I've only found this out from the census entries of the time and John's birth certificate, but all the information you have seems to fit. Very interesting! As you say, I'll double check a few more things to see if they tally and see how far we can go back, but it all sounds spot-on. If you are descended from Howell and I'm descended from John, I suppose that makes us distant cousins of some sort! Very interesting what you say about Clement Davies, and I'll definitely look into that as I'd like to also find out what happened to the other brothers and sister Ann. I'll start chasing the archive people at Carmarthen Council to see what they come up and hopefully it'll all tally. By the way, I have a family photograph of Evan if you need it for your researches.
