Ella H Wilson
« on: Sunday 20 February 11 19:43 GMT (UK) »
A cousin of my great grandfather, Henry Wilson, named Richard Wilson was born in Claypole, Lincolnshire in 1840. He emigrated to the USA and married Emma, who was also from Lincolnshire. They had one child, a daughter named Ellla H Wilson, born in Cook County, Illinois in 1875. Richard and Emma died in Illinois in 1902 and 1917 respectively and on the 1920 and 1930 Censuses Ella is living alone still in Cook County. She is described as a schoolteacher. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about how long she lived. She was unmarried in 1930. I would be interested to hear from anyone with an interest in these people,    Andrew Wilson

Hello Andrew,

Have been through the Cook County. Illinois Death Records 1908 - 1988. Plenty of Ella Wilson (Sept 1875) listed after 1930 but none specifically with a middle initial H to identify her. I also checked Emma Wilson because that is how she was named on the 1901 Census but again unfortunately nothing.  There is a RAOGK Volunteer in Cook - 3 rd on the link for Cook below. 7th on the list will also check for Obituaries 1885 - 1985.  Wonder if it would be worth an e-mail to see if they could help you at all  ???

    Sandra,

Many thanks! I will see what appears on the 1940 Census which is going to be released fairly soon I think.

Hi Andrew,

The official date for the 1940 Census was April 1st, but since that day will fall on a Sunday in 2012, it is unclear whether reseachers will have weekend access to film at the National Archives or will instead need to wait until Monday, April 2nd to satisfy their genealogical curiosity.  ;)
