St Peters Bedford (completed)
« on: Saturday 26 February 11 13:59 GMT (UK) »
I have had such a problem going further back with an ancester of mine (John Rabbitt born about 1780-1781) and today have found a John Rabbitt on family search baptised 4th Sept 1779 at St Peters Bedford.  This seems fitting through various reasons which I won't go into.  My question is could this be the St Peter de Merton with St Cuthbert in Bedford as I have looked on the internet but cannot find a St Peter in Bedford only one in Milton Ernest.  Does anybody know whether it was just St Peter at one time as I want to send for a cd from BFHS and all I can find is St Cuthbert on their list.  Hope this makes sense.

Thankyou.  I had a look at the web site and had another look at BFHS and found St Peters on a fiche.

I read a piece in a book about the 'Bedfordshire boys' and there was controversy from Bedfordshire concernng the boys being left after they had finished their apprentiship with the journeymen in Northamptonshire.  They weren't going to send anymore boys but they finally settled their  differences. This is what made me feel that the John I found on Familysearch could very well be him  as he was a shoe worker.  Also a lot of Rabbitts were in Bedfordshire at the time he was around.  (Human ones not the other sort)

Hopefully after about five years I have finally cracked one of my brick walls.
