Patrick O'BRIEN, b 1844 Limerick
« on: Sunday 27 February 11 22:26 GMT (UK) »
Patrick O'Brien was born in 1844 in Kilbehenny, County Limerick.  He emmigrated to Australia in 1863 arriving in Kepple Bay.  He died in Leura, NSW.

His nieces Margaret & Kate (Catherine) O'Brien also travelled from Limerick I believe to join their uncle..

I am a decendant of Patricks' brother, Timothy O'Brien.

I would be delighted to hear from any of his descendants.

I have found out a bit more about my relation Patrick O'Brien.
On his death cert it states that he arrived in Kepple Bay, Rockhampton in 1863.  Does anyone know how I would find out the ship he arrived on & who was with him on the journey.

He was involved in Cumberland Gold Mine.  He had just one child, Catherine Ann O'Brien.  She married Arthur John Cobcroft.

I would be delighted to hear from any Cobcroft decendants!

Patrick O'Brien died in January 1917 and was buried in the Roman Catholic cemetery in Wentworth Falls NSW.  I have failed to find a transcript of the headstone inscription.  Does anyone know where I could look?

Hello I am the great great grandaughter of Patrick O'brien, father of my great grandmother Catherine Ann Cobcroft.

I believe he did die somewhere in the Blue Mountains but was not buried there - He was buried in a family vault in Sydney.

I have never heard of any of his Irish family - all I've managed to find is that his Mother was Ellen and his Father, Terence.

I would love to hear from his other family.

ps I have always been told that he arrived in Australia unaccompanied. I have one photograph of him.

Hello Catherine.  My husband is your third-cousin-once-removed.  Patrick O'Brien's brother Timothy was his great-grandfather.  I am at present working on the genealogy of Patrick, his nieces who joined him, and their nieces who later joined them.

I would love to hear from you.

Eileen
