i have just received details of a grave in glasnevin.Iwas looking for a patrick deegan and trying to figure out if this was my relation. There are 6 names in the grave .None of them are connected to each other and all death dates are the same month and the same year.It also has union order or dublin union on them.Does anyone have any idea what this means.Surnames in grave are Deegan,Malone,Brennan,Devine,Mc Hughand Kerley.

Is the extended record available? This might give cause of deaths, ages etc. Could be an epidemic of flu, ora group of elderly people dying around the same time. Is the owner of the Grave given as the Dublin Union Workhouse?

Its probarly a paupers grave they didnt have the money to bury their loved ones. The graveyard could have one or two graves open at a time and whoever dies in that period is buried in one of these graves...

Just my idea on why you have all different names in the one grave. My GGrandfather is buried the exact same way in Glasnevin

There was a Fever Hospital in Cork St for several decades. It was still in use in 1921. Don't know the number, but it is possible he died  a pauper there, hence the Union Ref. PM
