The New Caledonia Archives are very helpful, they will send you information & sometimes BDM's free of charge.

The children listed in those trees born to Bartholomew appear to have records at the archives.

Perhaps you would like to search them yourself or contact them via email.

I don't know how good you French language skills are but they do receive & reply emails in English although their site is in French but you can search names in english if you have any problems with translating let me know, my french is a little rusty these days but enough to get me by  ;)

To Sherlock Bones Bartholomew Chitty was the brother of Phillip Chitty. He sailed from Melbourne to New Caledonia stayed there and married a new Caledonian lady-I have a copy of the marriage cert somewhere as I remember marriage was in 1876. We kept in touch with them until about 20 years ago, by then they no longer spoke English, only French and Polynesian. I think young Arch-Hector Chitty's son- had a daughter that did a bit of a family magazine which has a letter from one of them in it. The letter is of course in French.

Shall look for . Shifted a while back and ex spouse still has a lot of it shall chase up. The Australian branch of the Chitty family are related to the Earl of South Esk so fairly easy to trace going backwards. I think Ada Chitty was the countess in the 1860's. I think the photo's were taken prior to 1875 as one of the photo's is of a Vicar with the note -klilled in South Africa- and he does not have a dog collar on and it was only about 1875 that vicars started wearing dog collars. My grandfather Arch Mainwaring Chitty whom won the Military Medal in W W 1 said when on leave in London from the Western Front he met the Earl in 1917 and sat in his chair in the house of lords I have a very old photo of the Earl of 1917 when he was a child do you want a copy? One of my sons has that at the moment so it will take a week or to two get. A Robert Chitty was hung in the Old Sydney jail in 16 March 1841 I do not know if he was related to Mainwaring Chitty, but his gang was known as the Chitty boys. Interestingly the name Robert runs in this Chitty family a Robert Chitty Captain of Carlton Football club-Australian rules and was regarded as one of the tough and nastiest ever to have played. His brother Peter, had a book written about himself recently called the Changi Brownlow by Roland Perry. A picture of Peter is on the front cover of the paper back version. He won an OBE or MBE
