Just pre WW1 & possibly into the war years. The lady's high waisted skirt & loose blouse gave a barrel shaped look popular at this time. The boy's woollen jerkin was also becoming popular as boys wear around this time.1912-15.

Hi Jim,

Thanks so much for the info. Apologies for not replying until now!!

This photo was one of half a dozen that belonged to my elusive great grandmother and, only yesterday, I traced someone who was able to identify the three people in this photo! And by doing so, they confirmed the theory of who my great grandmother was (before she assumed a new name during WWI).

Thanks again,
Glen

Were they Catholics Glen, as the young girl appears to be wearing rosary beads?

Hi Carol,

No, this branch of the family were Church of England. I have the baptisms for those two children and definitely CofE.

The girl was born in 1907 and the boy in 1913.

On the back of this photo is has the following printed:

POST CARD
BRITISH MADE
Correspondance / Address

Hi
There is no doubt she is wearing rosary beads.

Was she attending a Catholic school or had her one of her parents converted on marriage?

Hi Sue,

How curious!
Are the beads only used in Catholicism?
I'll have to double check with the family, but no sign of that branch of the family tree being Catholic.
I'm intrigued now!

Thanks,
Glen

Hi Glen,  I'm no expert but if the boy in the photo was born 1913 this photo would be around
1917 as he looks about 4 and the girl around 10 or 11.  This photo looks to be
earlier than that date.  Definitely rosary beads, so Catholic.
