HELLO,

I am looking for an Annie Grieg Collins (born 16/8/1870 and a William Grieg Collins Oct 1897.
The name Grieg does anyone know is it a proper name, irish ? or a surname. I have tried to find both but had no luck. I thought it might be their mums maiden name or something like that. They are from the Leeds area, along with Agusta Mercy Collins (13/8/1894), again a name i thought would be picked up easy.

had a quick look but can't find any births registered with those names. I see you have some exact birth info, is that from a birth certificate?

Hi,

Know it is from an oldfamily member now passed away, he kept a diary of all births and deaths but no other details so trying to piece them all together.
Such a strange name, not sure how to pronounce it either lol

Are you sure of the spelling? We have Greig relatives but the family came from Scotland.

I am not sure, the diary is in Australia and i have had the info sent to me by a cousin, he found the diary in his attic. It might be spelt the other way, i dont know. Perhaps if i search spelling it other way i might get lucky ?

Pronounciation well.....Greeg as in Grieg the Norwegian composer but Tamsin Grieg the actress is pronounced Gregg isnt she?

Then you can start looking for them as Gregg because the people collecting the census data didnt always get it write either and transcribers must put what they see.

As a middle name it shouldnt be too much trouble, but as you expect it to come from a family name later it may then.

Why do you think Annie (born 1870) and William (born 1897) might be siblings? Annie's old enough to be William's mother and Agusta is only 3 years older than William.
